TikTok Comment Reply Rate By Creators Statistics 2026
Brand and organization accounts answered 3.5% of the 168.8 million comments they received in 2025, according to Respondology’s platform data. On YouTube, the only platform where creator reply behaviour has been counted directly, the median channel rate falls from 6.5% to 0% as subscribers climb. This page covers what the 2026 datasets measure about TikTok comment reply rate by creators, and which numbers simply do not exist.

How Many Comments Do Accounts Actually Answer?
Respondology’s 2026 Business of Comments Report puts the overall response rate at 3.5% across every comment its platform reviewed in 2025. Narrowed to comments that survived moderation, the figure reaches 5%.
These are roughly 3,400 brand and organization accounts, not independent creators. Respondology states separately that 97% of comments go unanswered, the same measurement read from the other end.
Purchase intent is the scarcest category at 0.6% of the mix. Respondology reports an 11% conversion rate on purchase-intent comments that receive a response.

Where TikTok Sits In The 168.8-Million-Comment Set
TikTok supplied 20.3 million comments from 491 accounts, 12.1% of the reviewed volume. Respondology recorded 179% year-over-year growth in TikTok comment volume, against 15.5% on YouTube and a 22% drop in Meta’s comment share.
Organic TikTok also carried the lowest hide rate of any major platform at 13.3%, down 17.9% year over year. The report publishes no response rate split by platform, so no TikTok-only reply figure appears in it, a gap that also shapes the TikTok comment-to-view benchmarks in circulation.
| Platform | Accounts | Comments reviewed | Share of volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| ~1,100 | 78.2m | 46.3% | |
| ~1,000 | 64.5m | 38.2% | |

TikTok Comment Reply Rate By Creators Against YouTube’s Measured Curve
CommentShark published the closest measured proxy on 30 August 2026, built from 9,877,019 public comments across 15,403 channels collected 19 to 22 August 2026. The median channel-level reply rate on comments at least seven days old is 1.1%.
The rate drops by a factor of four between the smallest band and the next, then reads 0%. CommentShark explains that a median of 0% means at least half the channels in that group replied to none of the captured comments, not that every channel replied to nothing.
Counted per channel, 68.5% of sampled channels above 1 million subscribers replied to nothing, against 30.1% at 1,000 to 10,000 subscribers. CommentShark states the figures describe its sampled YouTube channels, not the platform.
| Channel size | Median creator reply rate | Channels compared | Comments (7+ days old) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1K–10K | 6.5% | 2,727 | 268,859 |
| 10K–100K | 1.6% | 2,998 | 403,824 |
| 100K–1M | 0% | 2,631 | 495,067 |
| 1M+ | 0% | 954 | 236,383 |

How Many Comments Does A TikTok Post Get By Follower Tier?
Socialinsider’s 2026 TikTok Benchmarks record average comments per post rising in every band between 2024 and 2025, drawn from 2 million videos across 214,507 profiles. The 5K–10K tier moved furthest, from 10 to 15.
Socialinsider labels these bands by page size and notes the study presents 2025 values as 2026 figures pending quarterly updates. Smaller accounts also lead on nano-influencer engagement rates, at 4.40% by views for the 1K–5K band.
Two other datasets run the other way over later windows. Socialinsider’s separate 70-million-post cross-platform benchmark records average comments per TikTok post down 24% year over year, and Metricool measured interactions per post down 31.17%. The windows differ rather than contradict.
| Follower tier | Comments per post, 2024 | Comments per post, 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| 1K–5K | 7 | 8 |
| 5K–10K | 10 | 15 |
| 10K–50K | 23 | 25 |
| 50K–100K | 37 | 40 |

TikTok Comment Reply Rate By Creators And The Timing Problem
Creators who reply, reply fast. CommentShark timed 255,207 creator replies and put the median at 3.7 hours, with 31.2% inside the first hour and 81.9% inside a day. Only 3.1% arrived more than a week later.
Counting the comments that never got an answer changes the shape. Across 1,684,513 comments at least seven days old, 7.01% had a reply by day one and 9.56% by day 30.
Respondology separately reports that 67.4% of comments on its platform arrived outside 9-to-5 hours in 2025. Pinning a comment, the other comment-side lever, has no published measurement at all.
| Time elapsed | Share of comments answered by then |
|---|---|
| 1 hour | 2.54% |
| 6 hours | 4.77% |
| 24 hours | 7.01% |
| 3 days | 8.10% |
| 7 days | 8.64% |
| 14 days | 9.00% |
| 30 days | 9.56% |

Is There A Required TikTok Comment Reply Rate?
TikTok publishes one enforced response figure, and it covers seller messages rather than public comments. Sellers must hold a 24-Hour Response Rate of at least 90%, measured on customer-initiated chats over the previous seven calendar days.
Fully handled chatbot conversations are excluded unless transferred to a person, so a shop cannot reach the threshold on automation alone. Casual replies such as “Hi” do not count as valid responses.
| Requirement | Threshold | Measurement window |
|---|---|---|
| 24-Hour Response Rate | 90% minimum | Previous 7 calendar days |
| Satisfaction Rate | 75% minimum | Previous 30 calendar days |
| Warning issued | Below 90% | Reviewed weekly |
| Further enforcement possible | Below 85% | Reviewed weekly |
| Weekend messages, chatbot enabled | Answered by Monday 12pm local | Per message |

What The TikTok Comment Reply Rate By Creators Data Does Not Cover
Buffer ran the only regression study of reply lift, covering nearly 2 million posts from more than 220,000 accounts, published 12 November 2025. TikTok was not among the six platforms measured.
Buffer used within-account fixed-effects models and calls the results directional evidence, not proof of cause. CommentShark tested one narrow outcome on YouTube and found a reply associated with a 1.97-point higher chance the same viewer commented again, down from a naive gap of 4.28 points after adjustment, and states this is not causation.
| Platform | Engagement lift vs baseline |
|---|---|
| Threads | +42% |
| +30% | |
| +21% | |
| +9% | |
| X (Twitter) | +8% |
| Bluesky | +5% |

No published dataset gives a TikTok-specific creator reply rate, a TikTok reply lift, or a split between text and video replies. What creators can measure sits upstream: Metricool found posts carrying a question in the caption drew 26.19% more comments, a lever visible in question caption performance data and the wider caption CTA numbers.
Comment counts also move differently from likes and shares across follower tiers, saves go unpublished as a standalone TikTok save rate benchmark, and the platform-wide picture shifts on whether a study divides by followers or by views, as the engagement rate by follower count figures show.
FAQs
What percentage of comments do accounts reply to?
3.5% across all comments, rising to 5% when narrowed to comments that survived moderation. Measured by Respondology across 168.8 million comments on roughly 3,400 brand and organization accounts during 2025.
Does the reply rate fall as an account grows?
On YouTube it does. CommentShark recorded a median 6.5% reply rate at 1,000 to 10,000 subscribers, 1.6% at 10,000 to 100,000, and 0% above 100,000. No equivalent TikTok measurement has been published.
Why do the reply rates quoted on Reddit disagree with each other?
Denominators differ. CommentShark’s 1.1% is a per-channel median on comments seven days or older. Respondology’s 3.5% counts every comment on brand accounts. Any figure seen on Reddit needs its base checked first.
Should I benchmark against averages posted on Reddit?
Compare within your size band instead. CommentShark puts the median 1K–10K channel at 6.5%, while the most responsive tenth of that group replied to 70% or more. One platform-wide average describes almost no real channel.
Is there a required reply rate on TikTok?
Only for TikTok Shop sellers, and only on direct messages. Sellers must maintain a 24-Hour Response Rate of at least 90% over the previous seven calendar days. Public comments carry no reply obligation.
